If we are working with OSB or Rigidur, before we can actually handle clay, we need to place a rough coat of silicats, in order to ensure better adhesion. After we’ve done this, you will notice some very small rough granules. These could be troublesome, so before you put any other clay coats, you’ll need to check if all these granules don’t fall when you scratch it with your fingers. It’s as simple as that. Clay Experiment Weekend

PRISPA never gets tired of experimenting and finding new, easier ways to deal with existing issues. This weekend, stuff’s getting dirty as we’re starting to experiment with clay coatings.

As we all know, clay has two major qualities. Apart from looking extremely ellegant, clay is a material that very easily absorbes the humidity inside the house, while boasting a high degree of thermal inertia at the same time; this last quality recommeds clay for the “position” of Thermal Mass Manager, if we may say so. In other words, clay is a material that very easily accumulates heat, but very scarcely frees it into the ambiental air. Just fine, if we consider that in summer, clay absorbes heat and in winter, it absorbes the cold.
